I explore colorful, fantastical settings addressing themes of self-exploration through surreal, nature inspired compositions. I attended SUNY Purchase as a Fine Arts major and Art History minor. I graduated with a BFA in 2019.
Going to school truly allowed me to immerse myself in my work, and gave me the opportunity to learn more about myself and what it means to be an artist. My art helps me explore feelings of anxiety, numbness, and disorientation. The abstract, color-filled paintings represent the way my brain is feeling- often scrambled and unfocused, while the way I depict myself is how I allow the world to see me. Self portraits are a large part of my body of work because I know myself better than anyone else, and it allows me to show my feelings in ways one cannot verbalize. Allowing the composition to come together and letting the paint work as hard as my ideas let me create something I feel is personal, yet understandable to a large audience.
